The spinoff series FBI: Most Wanted returned for its sixth season in 2024, but will the procedural get renewed for season 7? Created by René Balcer from the series by Dick Wolf, Most Wanted follows the agents of the FBI's New York Fugitive Task Force as they use their investigative skills to track down some of the most dangerous wanted criminals from around the United States. A bit more focused than its predecessor, FBI, Most Wanted brings all the intense case-per-week stories found in most procedurals, but with the added excitement of the high-profile nature of the FBI.

When FBI debuted on CBS in 2018, it clearly had a lot of spinoff potential, and the Dick Wolf universe show wasted no time in expanding into Most Wanted in 2020. Keeping pace with the flagship show, Most Wanted has been able to separate itself by investing in its characters more deeply than the usual cop procedural. As such, Most Wanted has continued to grow and change across its near-decade on the air thus far, and that ability to evolve is what could help the series earn another season soon. As it stands now, CBS hasn't renewed Most Wanted yet.

Despite being part of one of the most popular TV franchises on the small screen today, FBI: Most Wanted finds itself in the hot seat each year, and hasn't been renewed yet. This shouldn't be a cause for alarm, however, because there is little indication to suggest that Most Wanted won't get picked up very soon. Most Wanted and its sister series International have been on consistent clip for years, but they are only given one-season orders each year by CBS. This is in contrast to the flagship series which was renewed for three seasons in 2024.

Multi-season renewals are exceedingly rare, and though FBI was the only show in the franchise to get such a renewal, it bodes well for its spinoffs. Though nothing is ever certain in the current TV landscape, Dick Wolf creations almost always have the chance to run for decades.

Will The Agents Return In Season 7?

Though the casts of the entire FBI franchise have changed a lot over the years, Most Wanted has seemingly had the most consistent change from year to year. Since the show began, many of the cast members have departed, and there's no way of knowing if that will happen between seasons 6 and 7. However, until more information is available, it's safe to assume that the Fugitive Task Force will remain intact going forward. This means Dylan McDermott will be back as Supervisory Special Agent Remy Scott, leading the team.

The rest of the team should be back as well, including stalwart cast members like Roxy Sternberg as Special Agent Sheryll Barnes and Shantel VanSanten as Special Agent Nina Chase. Meanwhile, it wouldn't be surprising to see Keisha Castle-Hughes return as Special Agent Hana Gibson, while Edwin Hodge should be back as Special Agent Ray Canon. The series also utilizes a massive roster of guest stars, but it's impossible to know who that will be in season 7 until more information is available.

At this juncture, it's impossible to guess exactly what will happen in FBI: Most Wanted season 7 because season 6 hasn't wrapped up yet. Typically, the procedural sticks to the case-per-week format, though there are several instances where the Fugitive Task Force tackled an ongoing story. With season 6 incomplete, it stands to reason that many of the threads will be resolved, and new threads will be dreamed up for season 7. What is known is that each episode will feature a new case for the team to crack.
